The Promenade Junior Choir in concert.
The Promenade Junior Choir caters for singers of primary school age - 7 to 11 or 12. Membership is open to all without audition and no previous experience or musical knowledge is assumed. Repertoire is always in unison or two parts and members are supported in working with music and following scores. Members are also given guidance to help them develop good technical skills as singers. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, but aims at stretching the abilities of its members. The resulting standard is high.
The Youth and Junior Choirs put on a concert each term and perform at various festivals and events through the year. The choirs' repertoire is rich and varied - ranging from works by modern composers for young singers such as Jonathan Willcocks' Musical Pie and Alexander L'Estrange's folk song arrangements to pop ballads and music from musicals -such as Lion King.
Membership of the Promenade Youth and Junior Choirs is open to all who want to learn to sing well and join others in enjoying its varied programme. The fee is £80 per term, but this is discreetly waived in the case of need. If there are more than one child from a family in the choirs, the maximum fee is £100 per family. Rehearsals are on a Monday evening during term time at Bell Farm School, Hersham. Junior Choir 6.30 to 7.40pm, Youth Choir 7.45 to 9.00pm.
