The Promenade Project Choir is an exciting chamber choir with flexible membership, aimed at experienced singers with strong sight reading ability and ability to learn quickly. Repertoire is a cappella choral music from renaissance to contemporary. It aims to put on two or three concerts a year - each a separate "project".
In concert: Rejoice in the Lord alway, by an anonymous 15th century composer
At its first complete project the choir undertook to prepare a half hour programme of English choral music, ranging from William Byrd to John Rutter. The resulting performance at St. Peter's Church in Hersham offered the choir its inaugural concert and gave ample evidence that the concept will work.
In concert: The Bluebird, by Charles Villiers Stanford
The aim is to build the repertoire through further short projects that will eventually enable the choir to offer full concert programmes locally, and further afield.
White Christmas by Irving Berlin recorded as a remote recording by the Promenade Project Choir during 2020 Covid lockdown.
Project Choirs demand strong sight reading ability and quick learning. The aim is to bring top quality music making to adult singers based in and around Elmbridge to which end Christopher is collating a database of those who are interested. For enquiries about membership please email.
