Come and Sing
Handel's Messiah

Concert poster

The Promenade Youth Choir is an outstanding ensemble which offers high quality choral training and guidance to young singers. This concert is a unique opportunity for young musicans aged 11 to 20 yrs from Elmbridge and beyond to experience and perform this choral masterpiece. No previous choral experience is needed to join, but some familiarity with following music is essential.

Why have I choosen this piece?

The Promenade Youth Choir performs a wide variety of music from traditional repertoire to choral arrangements of pop ballads and musical theatre songs. The choir performs a major choral work at Easter every year, ranging from Mozart's Requiem to Will Todd's Rejoice Jazz Choral Suite. The choir last sang Messiah in March 2012. It is a iconic part of the choral repertoire and I would like all my members to have had the opportunity to sing it at least once during their time with the choir.

What is the commitment and cost

Any young musican who wants to join this event can do so. Rehearsals will start at Bell Farm School in Hersham on January 8th 2024 and the performance will be on March 24th 2024 in St James's Church, Weybridge. There will be a rehearsal on that afternoon too. Dress will be all black.

The cost for participation is £80, but in line with the Promenade Choirs policy, if anyone is unable to afford this, the fee will be discreetly waived - please do not hesitate to ask.

There will be a modest ticket price for the final concert.

Adult participants

The project is aimed at young singers, but the Promenade Project Choir will join in. This is an adult ensemble of very strong and experienced singers. Any adults who would like to join should contact Christopher.
